The Van Gogh Museum and Amsterdam are deeply connected, each shaping the identity of Dutch culture in their own way. To express this relationship, the project explored how Van Gogh’s distinctive painting style could be used to reinterpret the city from above.
Using advanced digital techniques available at the time, a series of commercials were created that allowed visitors to experience Amsterdam through "the eyes" of Van Gogh. By blending a bird’s-eye perspective of the city with the expressive textures and colors reminiscent of his work, the project brought a new visual language to life—one that pays tribute to both Amsterdam and one of the Netherlands’ most iconic artists.
More than just a creative experiment, the campaign invited both international and domestic visitors to rediscover the beauty of Amsterdam, often hidden in plain sight. It served as a reminder of how the city, much like Van Gogh’s work, is layered with meaning and depth when viewed through a different lens.
